Perspective

"The past is behind--we must learn from it. The future is ahead--we must prepare for it. The present is now—we must live in it."

Jesus Christ - Our Friend and Redeemer

"Of all the things for which I feel grateful, one stands [above
all the others]. That is a living testimony of Jesus Christ, the Son of
the Almighty God, the Prince of Peace, the Holy One. . . .

"Jesus is my friend. He is my exemplar. He is my teacher. He is my healer. He is
my leader. He is my Savior and my Redeemer. He is my God and my King.

"Gratefully, and with love, I bear witness of these
things."
Gordon B. Hinckley, "Come Listen to a Prophet's Voice: Gratitude," Friend, Nov. 2002, 3
I clearly remember the impact of hearing President Hinckley's emotional words. I was in Mexico on my LDS Mission. The Prophet was speaking in General Conference, bearing his testimony of the Savior. When he said the words, "Jesus is my friend," his voice broke, his eyes welled up with tears, and I felt spirit testified to me of the the sincerity, beauty, and importance of those words.
So now that the hidden Easter Eggs have discovered, family outings have passed, and multiple chocolate candies have been consumed take moment a remember our friend for whom we celebrate this weekend, even Jesus Christ.
I know that Jesus is our Lord, Savior, Brother and friend. He suffered and died for our sins. Suffering that the Savior described in his own words;
Which suffering caused myself, even God, the greatest of all, to tremble because of pain, and to bleed at every pore, and to suffer both body and spirit.
D & C 19:18

His great and ultimate sacrifice was the single greatest act of love in human history. His resurrection gives hope to every member of human family. Especially when enduring trials that involve serious sickness or the loss of beloved friend or family.
I love the Savior, I know that He lives and I will be eternally be grateful for his love and sacrifice. Happy Easter!
